Quote and video

"All of us have to recognize that we owe our children more than we have been giving them."
                                                                                                         Hillary Clinton

The material items we are giving our children are not making them well-adjusted human beings. We need to give them our time, our unconditional love, and our support so they can develop to their fullest potential.

Below is a video from the Center on the Developing Child. I think it speaks to the importance of what some think of as child's play. This play can lead to productive living and working in society.

  4. Hello Mary Jo,
It was a great pleasure to get to know you through your discussions and blog postings. I enjoyed reading all of your postings, even when it was hard for me to provide feedback more often. I am so glad this course is over, closing one chapter of this journey and opening another soon. I did not have anybody from last course either, but it was great to know you, and I'm hoping we can take more classes together. You were very helpful and included everybody in your discussions. Thank you so much, and God bless you!

  6. This is an excellent video. I have a better understanding of Executive Function and how is very important for young children to develop these skills. The video explains three steps (inhibitory control, working memory, and mental flexibility) and how these can help children to share, take turns, follow rules, etc. This executive functions help children with pro-social behavior, and later when they become responsible adults, it help them with the ability to raise children, getting alone with others, and even to be part of a civil society. Thank you Mary Jo for sharing this video, I enjoyed this value information!
